About MDA...
...trusted and recognized world wide as a voluntary health agency!
A partnership of researchers and concerned and passionate citizens aimed at conquering 43 neuromuscular diseases that affect over one million Americans. Individual and private contributions fund MDA’s programs almost entirely. The MDA does not receive any funding from local, stare or federal governments, or the United Way, nor does it seek or receive fees from the individuals served.
MDA provides a week long Summer Camp for local kids from the ages of 6-17 diagnosed with neuromuscular disease. MDA’s local clinics at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital of Tampa and St. Anthony’s Neurology Group offers diagnostic follow up and rehabilitative care. MDA also assists with the purchase of wheelchairs, leg braces and communication devices.
Through its ALS Division, MDA is the world leader among voluntary agencies in fighting ALS, offering the most comprehensive range of services of any voluntary health agency in the nation. People with ALS are served at 36 MDA/ALS Research and Clinical Centers or at any of some 220 hospital-affiliated clinics across the country. MDA also leads the search for a treatment or cure for ALS through its aggressive, worldwide research program.
The Association is the world’s leader in research and services for neuromuscular diseases.
